Description
The medicine man has been treating the old chief, who lies on a a bed of sage and is covered with a buffalo hide. Sitting around are clansmen and other chiefs of the Cheyenne Nation. The man’s wife is seated on the ground near him with his chief’s bag. The cedar is burning at his feet and the ancestor, who is the helper, has come to be with the medicine man and help to heal or take the man to the spirit land…..the Great Spirit will decide.
